Col. Robert L. Suthard, Jr., Named
Horne International Chief Operating Officer
Fairfax, VA September 24, 2007 Horne International, Inc. (OTCBB: HNIN) today announced that its Board of Directors has approved the appointment of Colonel Robert L. Suthard, Jr. (U.S. Army, Ret.) as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. COL Suthard has also been named President of Horne International’s largest subsidiary, Horne Engineering Services, LLC, and will be responsible for oversight and management of the company’s activities with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and other customers.
Horne International Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Darryl K. Horne, P.E., called COL Suthard “a born leader who will play an important role in our growth strategy. Horne International has a long history of supporting the Department of Defense, and I am looking for Bob to use his leadership skills and experience to spearhead our relationships and program execution in this key area for our company.”
COL Suthard held numerous senior command assignments during a distinguished 28-year career in the USACE. At the time of his retirement in July 2007, COL Suthard was the commander of the USACE Transatlantic Programs Center, which is responsible for providing engineering, construction, and related services in the Middle East and Africa. The Center’s work includes designing and constructing facilities for use by U.S. forces, performing engineering activities for other U.S. government and foreign agencies, and providing operations and maintenance services. In addition, the Center provides engineering and support services to USACE in Iraq and Afghanistan.
COL Suthard’s USACE career included Commander of the Tulsa Army Corps District and Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff for the Omaha District. COL Suthard also served for two years as a professor of military science at the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in Lexington, Virginia.
COL Suthard is a graduate of VMI. He earned a masters of engineering administration from George Washington University and a masters of science in national resource strategy from the National Defense University.
