Darryl Horne Chosen for State Department’s Industry Advisory Panel
Fairfax, VA May 16, 2007 The United States Department of State's Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) has selected Darryl K. Horne, P.E., to serve on its Industry Advisory Panel (IAP). Mr. Horne is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Horne International, Inc. (OTCBB: HNIN), an engineering and technology firm with a strong focus on securing government facilities at home and abroad from chemical, biological, nuclear, and physical threats.
The IAP is made up of nine leaders from industry and academia with extensive knowledge and experiences in the areas of research and development, design, construction, the environment, seismic issues, emergency operations, security, planning and development, and banking and finance. The panel provides expert advice to OBO.
In notifying Mr. Horne of his appointment, Major General Charles E. Williams, USA (Ret), OBO’s Director and Chief Operating Officer, stated that the members of the IAP provide the “OBO with a wonderful opportunity to ensure that we consider the best possible methods and means available to provide safe, secure, and functional facilities for U.S. diplomatic missions worldwide and to oversee the Department of State’s real property assets.”
Mr. Horne’s term on the IAP extends from July 2, 2007, to July 1, 2008. He will represent the National Defense Industrial Association on the panel.
In accepting the appointment, Mr. Horne said, “Ensuring the safety and security of the State Department’s facilities worldwide is critically important to our national interests and to the dedicated people who are serving our country at those facilities. I will work diligently to help resolve the issues and challenges that come before the IAP.”
Mr. Horne received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Military Institute in 1982 and founded Horne Engineering Services, Inc., in 1990. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Society of American Military Engineers. Mr. Horne completed his service in the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of Captain.
